Independence
This project publishes records about people who hold or seek public office. Its founder may seek office. That is a conflict, and the honest thing to do with a conflict is to state it and bind yourself in public.
This policy is adopted and its words are not on this page yet.
The separation policy is Exhibit D, adopted by the board. This page will carry it verbatim. A paraphrase written while waiting would read as the policy and would not be it, and a reader cannot tell a summary from a policy when the summary sits at the policy’s address. Expected: Thursday, per the founder order of 2026-09-20.
What is already enforced in code
One rule does not wait for the text. No page on this site may name a candidate in the Chicago municipal election, February 2027 alongside a reference to the founder. It is a build gate: a page that does both fails the build before it ships.
The rule is about juxtaposition rather than about any sentence. A record page about a candidate, with no founder reference on it, is exactly what this project is for.
What that gate cannot do: it checks names it has been given. The candidate list comes from Chicago Board of Election Commissioners — certified candidate list, read by a person. Nobody has read it yet, so the register is empty today. Nobody has read the certified list. The list for a February 2027 municipal election is not final until the Board certifies it, and entering names from news coverage would put people in a register that decides what this site may not say about them.
